Old yeller and Savage Sam, GREAT FREAKING BOOKS Sounder, holy smokes it is depressing But a good book I love it when Arliss has to eat his own Mule, I also love it when He swallers the injuns ear I read these when I was in my mountain man live off the land phase and loved them, I bought this book with all three a couple off years back and re read them Fun fun and fun Until you get to Sounder, then its sad sad and sad.
I didn t actually read them in an omnibus, but Fred Gibson s Old Yeller and Savage Sam are splendid books about dogs, pioneers, and life Once could read a lot of history books without learning as much about the pioneer age as from these books.And Sounder it s heartbreaking and unforgettable.
I havent read any of these books other than Old YellerSad story.Made me cry Watched the movie and although I already knew the story it still made me cry.That is a book that will make one cry every page they flip.
I would recommend this book to the people that love dogs, but also want sad stories but classic stories that a lot of people can connect to or have read and know about, all three stories are very interesting but heart breaking in some cases.

Old yellor was a really good book, but sounder was nt my favorite So i started reading savage sam the sequal to old yellor It was nt as good as the first story but I liked it.
