Bugliosi was the brilliant prosecutor in the Charles Manson case His book of that case called Helter Skelter is riveting And the Sea Will Tell is also by him and describes a case in which he worked to convict the man in the case, while setting his girlfriend free, the female half of the couple all the time in her own idiotic way setting up impediments to her own defense He is dogged and determined to put murderers behind bars I found this book less interesting than the others, but still very goo [...]
Finished this morning and just want to say that this is a great book This has been on my shelf for at least 10 years and do not ask me why No idea why I did not pick it up to read sooner So glad I read this cause it was well written I feel sorry for the author because I only know Vincent Buglosi wrote it but I assume he told it and the real author wrote it Highly recommend this old fashioned good true crime book but you have probably already read it ages ago4.5 stars
I read this many years ago, and recalled that I found it intriguing and somewhat creepy, but didn t remember many details That s pretty much what I thought this time around Bugliosi details how he constructed his prosecution, which was purely circumstantial, and it s pretty interesting One thing I didn t remember is scratching my head over someone going to all the trouble if that s the word, of plotting and committing a murder for money and then blowing so much of it on one trip to Vegas of all [...]
From the POV of a prosecutor, Till Death Us Do Part comes from the opposite perspective of my normally criminal defense oriented reading I prefer a book or a tale about the system problems due to overreaching prosecutors, shady police officers, and sympathetic criminal defendants Here, I was reading about a prosecutor s predicament of trying to convict defendants he knows are guilty but has insufficient evidence to convict in the face of double jeopardy concerns which leads to the 3 problems abo [...]
From the author and prosecutor of Helter Skelter Charles Manson , is another true crime book where he was the L.A prosecutor for two conspirators of murder The crimes took place in the late 60 s L.A was a different place than it is now The book was written in the 70 s and made into a movie in the early 90 s Bugliosi is quite a famous prosecutor and has a great memory for telling a fascinating murder story of 2 cold blooded and greedy killers I found the book hard to put down, even though the sto [...]
Based on a true story, Till Death Us Do Part is a very compelling read If you like crime stories, this is definitely one for you Bugliosi has a way of writing that makes you walk away feeling as though you actually knew all of the characters personally I found it very easy to get involved with the storyline and when it ended I was disappointed and have made it a point to read books by Bugliosi now that I am finished with law school.
I found the explanation of the legal terminology and process helpful, yet waaaay too lengthy By the end I found myself skipping pages of trial script as i felt the only point to making it this lengthy was too show off the author s courtroom skill BUT I did find the story fascinating, and well written.
I read this book because I loved Helter Skelter, when I read it years ago I had never heard of this true crime, and Bugliosi brings it to life Some times when he is talking about himself it takes me away from the story It s a good read though If you are a true crime reader it s worth a shot
From the POV of a prosecutor, Till Death Us Do Part comes from the opposite perspective of my normally criminal defense oriented reading I prefer a book or a tale about the system problems due to overreaching prosecutors, shady police officers, and sympathetic criminal defendants.
The LAPD detectives did not know on December 11,1966, the night of the first murder, that they would soon be drawn into a long exhaustive pursuit that would lead them from the scene of a modest, working class neighborhood, intoSouthern CA, Baja, and NV Nor did they know that it would take a series of unsolved, attempted murders, and a mysterious terribly brutal second murder before the state of CA would have what they believed to be sufficient evidence to commence a prosecution On December 11, 1 [...]
Vincent Bugliosi made he fame as the LA prosecutor during the Charles Manson trial and went on to write the best seller Helter Skelter about those heinous murders In this book, again he is prosecuting a murder fact a double murder.d from the beginning, it doesn t appear that the State has a very strong case It is all circumstantial and some of the witnesses for the prosecution don t appear to be very dependable A man is shot several time in the head and his home is set on fire Sixteen months lat [...]
Bugliosi prosecuted this no fucking way LA crime of passion before he blew the world s mind with Helter Skelter You probably know your thing related to true crime this one, because it was written before posters for serial killer comedy shows were placed indiscriminately throughout the city, has some class and restraint but not enough to keep it juicy I learned that people can be damned fucked up in this life when money and lust are involved We knew that but does another well written retread ever [...]
If you like true crime, this is a must read L.A Distract Attorney, Vincent Bugliosi, does a great job presenting the murder, investigation, building the case, and telling all that happened in court when he prosecutes Alan Palliko Sandra Stockton for double murder in the late 1960s The case built against them is purely circumstantial Bugliosi has the arduous task of convincing a jury these two are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt He also does a good job of explaining legal terms and processes in [...]
Till Death Do Us Part is an excellent book, especially for those who want to pursue a career in the law field and or are interested in criminal cases The book is told as a story, rather than a case, keeping the reader on his or her feet at all times He wonderfully develops each character, describing their emotions and facial expressions to the par when needed There is no excessive lawyer jargon either We follow Mr Bugliosi s path through the case and can feel his stress and worry I really recomm [...]
I thought I had read all of Vincent Buliosi s books and then I found this one in a used bookstore I couldn t put it down It was a fascinating story told only in the way that Bugliosi does Alan Palliko and Sandra Stockton, real names Paul Perveler and Christina Cromwell, conspire to kill each other s spouses for insurance money and to be able to continue their affair The case is mostly circumstantial, will they be convicted or will they get off
Reading this book was a chillingly surreal experience for me, even though it is a TRUE story of murder in the mid 60 s In junior high, I snuck this one off my parents bookshelves and read it in short, secretive intervals, which probably heightened the eerie feeling that is conjured up every time I think of this book and the twisted double murder plot I ll probalby re read this one at some point so as to be focused on the second half which deals with the trials.
Vincent Bugliosi as always keeps me reading and reading He manages to give lots of information to legal novices like myself and gets me involved with the people in his books In this case, I became fond of Henry Stockton When I read Helter Skelter, I couldn t sleep for a week from fear of people creeping around my house at night
Good opening on on this book, though I think the co author penned the beginning and not Bugliosi The Bugliosi writing style didn t seem to land until the trial begins I the story My only complaint is that it seemed to ramble a bit Not twisting as Sea Will Tell or other Bugliosi books Still I would recommend the book for true crime enthusiasts
My expectations were high because I had finshed Helter Skelter and wanted another compelling, well written story I got some of it, not all of it I got the well written part but story was not compelling to me It is something you can read on your way to work not in a diner for 3 hours as I did with Helter Skelter.
You got to hand it to Vincent Bugliosi, he definitely knows how to tell a story and he is excellent at explaining the legal side of things. This book is about two people who conspire to murder each other s spouse for the insurance money It is another true crime and it is a case that Vincent Bugliosi prosecuted If you are a true crime buff, you ll enjoy this one.
Another one pulled from the senior citizens pile But, hey, he did a great job w Helter Skelter Can t go wrong w Bugliosi OK, I had to deduct a star for Vince going on on about how he strongly believes in the death penalty Of course the book is only 30 years old, so maybe he s been enlightened since then
Is there any other better true crime author then Vincent Bugliosi Answer No one is even close This is my third Bugliosi book and I couldn t put it down How he convected two people of murder with no physical evidence is amazing He is so awesome The story is crazy and I can t believe this is true, how nobody has made this into a movie is beyond me I loved this book
I am going to to school for Criminal Justice, naturaly I like to read books that involve true crime I abseloutly love this book I havnt been able to put it down I encourage people to read this book it will blow your mind away.
Re reading this one after 30 years to see if I get out of it as an adult reader.Definitely liked this book even better after this second read The second half of the book trial was captivating No one prosecutes better than Bugliosi just ask him
Bugliosi, amazaing author, as well as lawyer who writes excellent novels on his cases he covered in real life He was the prosecuting attorney in the Manson trials and also wrote the book Helter Skeltor.
Rather tedious but interesting, very thorough study of the prosecution s role in this lengthy trial It would have been nice to have the prosecution dissected by the defendant s lawyer as well Good for law students well, American ones Could have lightened up a bit and less pompous.
I guess I m a little twisted, because I love true crime books This book is a fascinating tale of a real life murder mystery and the masterful lawyer, Vincent Bugliosi, who prosecutes the accused This is the third book I have read by Vincent Bugliosi, and I love them all
A case based entirely on circumstantial evidence Alan Pallinko and lover, Sandra Stockten conspired to kill her husband and his wife for the insurance money Vincent Bugliosi prosecutes the crime and writes of the case Very interesting to see how the pieces come together
A True mystery that kept me reading late into the night I couldn t put it down Bugliosi is a briulliant criminal lawyer and an excellent author This was better than Helter Skelter which was a great book too.
This is a book I read years ago in high school I had to read it again, because the house the murder took place, my mother s good friend lived lives at the same exact address I remembered she once told me at the bottom of the basement there were spots with fire residue.
